Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya—Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has allotted P40 million of his congressional funds for the construction of a new municipal building for the upland town of Kayapa.

The fund was assured by Go during the recent groundbreaking of the proposed three-story Kayapa Municipal Building.

Mayor Elizabeth Balasya said the assistance from Go was a timely Christmas gift for Kayapa villagers who have been longing for a new municipal building.

“We, the people of Kayapa are so much grateful for Senator Go’s assistance. Indeed, we are very happy for this timely Christmas gift and assistance,” she said.

The recent groundbreaking program was graced by Go’s representative, lawyer Danny Yang, with DILG Regional Director Jonathan Paul Leusen Jr., Rep. Luisa Cuaresma, provincial officials led by Vice Governor Jose Tomas, and municipal and barangay officials of Kayapa.

Balasya said construction will start next year as soon as the bidding process is completed.

The funding for the proposed municipal building was supported by Cuaresma and Tomas for submission to the office of Go.

Kayapa is a home of upland indigenous farmers composed mostly of the Kalanguya, Ibaloi, Iwak and Kankanaey tribes.

It serves as one of the major sources of vegetables of Nueva Vizcaya, making the province the “vegetable bowl” of Cagayan Valley.
