Valenzuela fetes SEA Games gold winner Casares

Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian recently welcomed”¯Fernando Casares, 30th”¯Southeast Asian Games gold medalist for triathlon mixed relay, along with his”¯kababayans”¯at the Valenzuela City Hall.

The city government commended Casares for bringing pride and inspiration, not only to his countrymen, but to his fellow Valenzuelanos.

The triathlete hails from Barangay Wawang Pulo, his mother’s home area, at the northwestern part of the City.

Casares was bestowed with P100,000 incentive and a miniature”¯Arkong Bato, an iconic symbol of the city.

 Four other athletes from Valenzuela City are currently competing in the”¯SEA Games: Brandhon Kyrielle V. Aquino of Barangay Gen. T. De Leon in sailing, Baby Jessica Canabal of Barangay Gen. T. De Leon in taekwondo, Jeniel “Haze” Bata-anon of Barangay Lawang Bato in e-sports, and Noelito Jose Jr. of Barangay Dalandanan, who already won a bronze medal in fencing men’s epee.
