Residents of Cauayan City, Isabela will be able to go cashless with their city hall tax payments and permit transactions as MultiSys rolls out the Cauayan Smart City app.
Other plans include enabling cashless transactions in city hall, empowering small enterprise owners a better financial and bookkeeping method and providing RFID cards for locals.
With MultiSys tapping Cauayan City as the first ‘Smart City’ to utilize their services, the firm aims to make government payment transactions a breeze with kiosks machines strategically placed in city halls, government offices and cooperatives, and private establishments with high foot traffic.
The Smart City project supports forward-thinking entrepreneurs who own micro and macro business. MultiSys aims to empower these business owners including micro-enterprises with their Mobile Point of Sale Devices or the MPOS machines.
This device allows for a more efficient way of calculating costs, and issue receipts for its transactions all in just a handheld device. The one stop shop device has been created and built for sari-sari stores and convenience stores that’s cost-efficient and serves as an investment.
“The Smart City project is an ambitious yet feasible plan that we would like to pursue and materialize. Not only will it make people’s lives easier but will also help promote user friendly government payment transactions. At the same time, it empowers micro-business owners by taking an easier yet efficient way of running their businesses,” says MultiSys Chief Executive Officer David Almirol Jr.
Apart from taking the lead in cashless payment processing and the utilization of the MPOS machines, Cauayan’s residents will have ID’s with RFID capabilities in the form of a physical ID card that also doubles as an e-wallet and a residence ID.
From transactions with community retail stores, transportation fares such as e-jeeps and e-motors to sending money to family members through remittance centers, the multipurpose ID has got it all covered.
“We start turning cities into ‘Smart Cities’ one city at a time, which has always been the goal of MultiSys. We want to make life easier, empower the people and promote hassle free payment transactions to save time while being cost efficient,” Almirol said.
“We are positive that Cauayan City won’t be the only ‘Smart City’ in the country as we aim to provide the same services nationwide,” adds Almirol when asked about the next steps once Cauayan is fully transformed into a ‘smart city’,” he added.
The use of kiosk machines for payment transactions has been available with the competitors providing the same service, but what makes MultiSys’ Smart City Project the most feasible and efficient is the unison of all its services which was made possible by the multipurpose RFID/NFC-equipped residence ID.
In 2015, Cauayan City was dubbed as “Smarter City” by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) for being the first city to implement Juan Time, a campaign by DOST that pushes for the synchronization of time in offices and public establishments to promote the efficiency at work within the community by following the Philippine Standard Time as their basis.
The city received an award and a certificate of appreciation for successfully adapting the said campaign.
