The PLDT Employees Credit Cooperative Inc. recently turned over a School-in-a-Bag to the Pamampangin Elementary School in Lopez, Quezon, done in partnership with PLDT wireless subsidiary Smart Communications.
The School-in-a-Bag benefited over 290 students and 12 teachers of Pamampangin Elementary.
“Our partnership with Smart, through the School-in-a-Bag, is our way of going beyond work and doing what we can to provide better quality education to underserved communities. In PECCI, we believe that technology is an enabler that allows every generation to embrace and adapt in the digital age,” said PECCI Director and Social Community Development Oversight Committee Head Miguel Dawis.
School-in-a-Bag is a portable digital classroom designed to facilitate basic education even in far-flung and underserved areas without access to electricity. School-in-a-Bag utilizes technology coupled with innovative, 21st-century teaching pedagogy, and K-12 content to enable learning.
Each digital learning package contains a projector, DVD player, pocket Wi-Fi, solar panels, an LED TV, a teacher’s laptop, and student tablets preloaded with Learn Smart literacy apps with the Dynamic Learning Program module, teacher training courses, and regular monitoring, and evaluation from Smart.
Apart from the School-in-a-Bag, PECCI also nominated Pamampangin ES to be the recipients of the PLDT-Smart Foundation’s PLDT Sack of Joy bags. These were distributed to 150 students.
PSF also distributed over 180 PLDT Sack of Joy bags to the students of Guihay Elementary School in Lopez, Quezon. The PLDT Sack of Joy bag includes school supplies such as PLDT-Smart Foundation Composition notebook, pencil, ballpen, a Crayola set, ruler, pencil sharpener, paste, and eraser.
Through PSF, PECCI also distributed 120 PLDT Sack of Joy bags to the children of Lubid ng Buhay in Gumaca, Quezon.
“PSF believes in the power of education in transforming the lives of the youth of today. Through the PLDT Sack of Joy, may the sparks of hope ignite within every student who receives this simple blessing. May this inspire them to work harder in making their dreams happen,” said PSF President Esther Santos.
“Thank you to PECCI and PSF for their generosity. This blessing is a reminder for us to teach our students well and shape them to be the future leaders of this country,” said Pamampangin ES Principal Jonas Christian V. Merjudio.
