Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya—Acting mayor Arnel Hernandez has called on barangay officials and ordinary villagers here to give their full support to the implementation of Solid Waste Management law in their respective communities.

Hernandez made the call during the recent SWM Summit in town to address the indiscriminate dumping of wastes along its roads.

“We have already reiterated this law to our barangay officials hoping that they will comply with its provisions with our support,” he said.

Hernandez said he sternly warned barangay officials for not properly implementing the law in their areas.

“We are mandated by law to file cases against our barangay officials who refuse or fail to comply with the provisions of the SWM law,” he said.

Hernandez cited the case of suspended mayor Flaviano Balgos who was slapped with a one-year suspension for his alleged failure to close the dumpsite in barangay Aliaga in this town.

The local government unit is relying on the support, commitment and dedication of barangay officials and villagers on the success of the SWM in the municipality, so as not to repeat another incident of charged local officials, he added.”‹
