Tanza, Cavite—Parishioners and residents here will gather together as the city celebrates the annual fiesta of its patron saint St. Augustine, or locally known as “Tata Usting,” today and tomorrow with cultural and religious presentations.
On Fiesta Day, Aug. 28, Masses will be held hourly from 4 am to 7 pm at Sta. Cruz Church. A “Toro at Higantes” parade at the city proper will cap the night’s celebrations along with a fireworks display at the plaza.
Other events to celebrate the feast day include the Ginoo and Binibining Tanza 2018 coronation night at the Tanza Sports Complex, beside the town hall;
The “Himig ng Pagkakaisa” concert at Poblacion 1 covered court; Five local brass bands”•the Sta. Cruz Band, Tanzanian Band, Sta. Monica Band, San Lorenzo Band and St. Augustine Band”•performing simultaneously to serenade the residents; The “Caracol ng Bayan” at the town proper.
The “Masaya sa Tanza Jam Session,” a free concert at the park at Poblacion 1 covered court, featuring the Franco band plus guest performers Straptunes, Jamlaya, DJ Knightmare Fallen, Omillet, and Android 18; and the Karakol street dancing at the St. Augustine School grounds.
The city will also commemorate 238 years since the foundation of the Sta. Cruz parish on Aug. 29, and will hold a Thanksgiving Mass on Sept. 2 with a “Grand Augustinian Saints” procession at night.
Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista, the Bishop of Imus, also led a concelebrated Mass last Friday.
Tanza Traffic Bureau advised the public and motorists to expect heavy traffic on Monday between 6 am to noon along Daang Amaya to A. Soriano Highway, Umboy area, and on Tuesday at Poblacion Proper from 4 am to noon.
Heavy traffic can also be expected at Barangay Tejero, General Trias City, especially along the crossing of Tejero, GenTri and A. Soriano road in Tanza, as the village is also celebrating the feast day of St. Augustine on the same date.
