BALANGA CITY, Bataan—The unique program of empowering villages in this city, dubbed “Barangay Week Program,” continued under the leadership of Mayor Francis Garcia and Vice Mayor Vianca Venzon-Gozon.

“Let us not forget to take care of our environment,” Venzon-Gozon reminded residents during the program.

City councilors also attended the barangay week program.

Aiming to empower the city’s 25 villages, activities in the barangay are assigned for the whole week. The program ends with a barangay assembly, which is required of every barangay based on the Local Government Code.

The program has been cited as one of the best local government practices and has been replicated in the other towns of the province.
