BAYOMBONG—This province will host this year’s 33rd National Mountaineering Congress, which is expected to draw more than 300 participants from across the country.
Leo Garlitos, Nueva Vizcaya Mountaineering Society, Inc. adviser, said the Congress is scheduled on Oct. 25 to 28 at the Lower Magat Eco-Tourism Park in barangay San Luis in Diadi town.
“This will be a gathering for outdoor lovers and enthusiasts to come and experience the eco-agri-tourism attractions in our province. This will also serve as an opportunity to promote our unique destinations while helping to spread responsible and socially relevant mountaineering,” he said.
The four-day event, Garlitos added, will open scheduled climbs for the province’s mountain attractions such as Mt. Palali,which straddles within the towns of Bayombong, Solano, Quezon, Kasibu and Bambang; Mt. Ugo in Kayapa town; and part in Benguet province and Mt. Pullol in Ambaguio town.
The Capissaan Cave system in Kasibu town, considered the 5th longest cave system in the country, will also be opened for caving enthusiasts.
Garlitos said mountaineering courses, walk in the Lower Magat park, and other base camp activities such as cook fest, hydration contest, adventure race, boat race, and meeting of the Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines, Inc. members, among others will also be offered for the participants.
The NMC, which is spearheaded by the MFPI and hosted by the NVMSCI, is held annually, he noted.
Hosting is offered for interested mountaineering clubs through bidding scheme.
