Bayombong—The National Nutrition Council has awarded the province the Nutrition Honor Award for its consistent and improved performance on the implementation of the nutrition program.
The NHA is the highest and most prestigious award given to local government units who have shown exceptional performance in nutrition program implementation for six consecutive years.
Luzviminda Ragpa, chief of the Provincial Nutrition Office, said the recent evaluation made by the NNC puts major weight on the strong support of local government units of the province that paved the way for the sustained implementation of various nutrition programs, projects, and activities.
“There are also other factors like sustained interventions in the barangays, among others which reduced the number of malnutrition cases in the province,” she said.
Ragpa also attributed the NHA of the province on the strong support, commitment and dedication of nutrition workers and various stakeholders in the province.
The province has been a recipient of the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition and CROWN Maintenance Awards.
To date, 60 LGUs have been conferred the NHA. This year’s awardees will receive a cash prize of P1 million and a trophy in the awarding program at the Philippine International Convention Center.
