San Pablo, Isabela—A consortium supporting Avance Isabelina, a newly formed women’s health and rights group in this province, was able to reach out to 367 individuals needing medical services in the remote village of Barangay San Vicente here.

“It is amazing that young organization like Avance Isabelina has been able to reach this far-flung place at the foot of Sierra Madre. It is a living proof that women are waking up to work together to provide health needs,” said Rose Delos Angeles, Avance Isabelina provincial chairperson.

The medical mission was jointly supported by ANAC-IP Party List and the office of Rep. Napoleon S. Dy of the 3rd District of Isabela.

Medical professionals from several Metro Manila hospitals and clinics joined hands with a group of volunteers from a Seventh Day Adventist group, forming a team that provided dental, optical, medical, and obstetrics-gynecology services.

More than 200 reading eyeglasses were given free.

Avance Isabelina took charge of preparing the medical mission site and assembling a group of Barangay Health Workers who helped in the registration and taking of vital signs of patients.

A community of Agta-Dumagats who are living in a nearby core shelter project also availed of the medical mission’s services.
