Pangasinan launches Agriculture Caravan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan”•The provincial government of Pangasinan, led by Governor Amado I. Espino III, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, has launched the “Agrikultura Para Sa Pagbabago” (Agriculture for Change) Information Caravan at the Sison Auditorium here.

Over 1,400 agriculturists and farmer leaders from various municipalities of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur converged in Lingayen for the regionwide information caravan.

DA Central Office Agriculture and Fisheries Services Officer Adora Rodriguez said the caravan, which was launched in Pangasinan, is the first of six to be conducted nationwide.

The caravan seeks to educate agriculturists and fish producers regarding modern farming, and propagation techniques, as well as services offered by the Department of Agriculture and its National Line Agencies, which will aid farmers with credit policies, agricultural trainings, and crop insurances among others, Rodriguez said.

Reminiscing his days as mayor of Bautista town, Espino urged participants to learn from the information caravan and apply the modern farming techniques to boost crop production.

Acknowledging the Department of Agriculture for their unwavering support to Pangasinan and its neighboring provinces in Region 1, Governor Espino stressed that the Provincial Government of Pangasinan, like the Department of Agriculture has been steadfast in its efforts in bringing the best programs to farmer constituents in the province affirmed by the recent Corn Achievers Award.

The young governor requested from the participants to take care of their health and be reminded that when agricultural problems arise, a well-informed farmer is equipped with solutions.

Meanwhile, Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay Moya thanked the Department of Agriculture for the timely program which is vital for producers nationwide.

Line Agencies present during the Department of Agriculture Information Caravan are: Agriculture Credit Policy Council, PhilMech, Agricultural Training Institute, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, National Irrigation Administration, Bureau of Plant Industry, and Landbank of the Philippines.
