BALANGA CITY, Bataan—Vice Governor Cris Garcia led the awarding of 85 teachers in the province as recipients of this year “Gurong Iskolar ng Bataan”.

“Seventy-five teachers were awarded scholarship for masteral degree and 10 for doctoral degree”, said Bataan scholarship coordinator Ramon Canas who was also present during the awarding held last week at Conference Room, DepEd Building, capitol compound.

“The late Gov. Tet Garcia hatched the scholarship program to empower you. Just like in Finland where all teachers have either masteral degree or doctoral degree”, he quoted the vice governor saying to teachers during the awarding.

The late governor hatched the scholarship for teachers in 2007 two years after he and Gov. Abet Garcia then congressman started the Iskolar ng Bataan for college students. Finland is known to have the best education system in the world.

“You cannot give what you don’t have”, Canas further quoting the vice governor as she recalled the words of the late governor to teachers.
