Volunteers from BDO bank branches in Laguna province have mounted relief operations for victims of typhoon “Lannie” and tropical depression “Maring” as part of efforts organized by BDO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank.
Led by branch head Wilda Solis, employees of the BDO Calamba-Paseo Uno branch distributed relief goods to help residents cope with the calamities. Non-BDO volunteers also participated in giving out packs containing food and water in communities devastated by torrential rains and floods.
The initiative is in keeping with the disaster response advocacy of BDO Foundation, which organizes disaster relief operations in calamity-stricken communities with the support of more than 1,000 BDO branches, head office and satellite units all over the country.
“Lannie” and “Maring” brought heavy rains in several over Laguna, triggering floods that displaced thousands of residents, caused landslides, and damaged roads and infrastructure, prompting government officials to place the province under a state of calamity.
