GENERAL TRIAS CITY—The local government here led by Mayor Antonio “Ony” Ferrer and the City Health Office and City Environment Office recently launched the Smoke Free GenTri campaign.

This is in accordance with the nationwide smoking ban as contained in President Rodrigo Duterte’s Executive Order No. 26, Republic Act 9211, and City Ordinance No. 15-04, which imposes a smoking ban in the entire city.

Cavite 6th District Rep. Luis ‘Jon-Jon’ Ferrer IV, Vice Mayor Morit Sison and the City Council, and the city’s department heads support the program.

Dr. Renato Escurel, City Environmental and Natural Resources Officer, laid down the basics of the EO by identifying places and vehicles where people are not allowed to smoke. He also said persons in authority, such as policemen and traffic enforcers, were deputized to apprehend violators.
