BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya—A drug support recovery training will be conducted here next month to prepare individuals to support the rehabilitation and development of suspected drug users.

Maybelle Blossom Dumlao-Sevillena, provincial administrator, said the training will be conducted by the Saint Mary’s University in this town, in partnership with the Psychological Association of the Philippines-Task Force on Drug Recovery Support and Saint Louis University Sunflower Children’s Center.

The trainer’s training for the community-based relapse prevention program entitled “Katatagan Kontra Droga sa Komunidad” aims to train the participants in facilitating relapse prevention program modules in the community level.

“This is in support to President Duterte’s cause for a drug-free environment, not only for the schools but also the community as well,” Dumlao-Sevillena said.

The end goal of the KKDK is to train individuals so they may eventually become part of the team who will facilitate the drug recovery support program in their respective communities.

Target participants are psychologists, social or community workers, guidance counselors, nurses, and other allied professionals.

However, also in Bayombong, a suspected drug pusher died after firing at policemen following a buy-bust operation at Sitio Batulan of Barangay Buenavista here.

Harold M. Wachorna, a.k.a. “Aloy,” a resident of Santa Cruz in Bagabag town, died after firing at PO2 Mcren Jhon G. Alvaran, who posed as a buyer in an operation planned by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 02.

“Investigation disclosed that after the transaction was consummated, the suspect was able to sense that the one whom he sold ‘shabu’ was a police officer,” a statement from Bayombong police said.

“The suspect drew his revolver from his waist and immediately fired at PO2 Alvaran, who was posing as the buyer, wounding him on the left side of his stomach. The policeman’s backup returned fire, hitting the suspect in the head and body,” the report added.

Alvaran and Wachorna were brought to the Veterans Regional Hospital for treatment, but the latter was declared dead on arrival.

Police scene-of-crime operatives recovered from the suspect P500 in marked money and other cash, a small sachet containing suspected shabu, a cellular phone, a black wallet containing assorted cards, a black gun holster, four live caliber .38 bullets, and a Yamaha motorcycle bearing plate number BS7043, the report added.
