Residents of Greenhills East Village have called on Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita Abalos to enforce zoning laws and halt a proposed 72-story condominium, saying it poses risks to safety, tranquility, and the quality of life in the neighborhood.
The homeowners objected to the nine-year construction timeline, warning it would disrupt the school zone and endanger children, the elderly, and the local ecosystem. Their petition cited the Green Building Ordinance and Comprehensive Land Use Plan, which prioritize health, sustainability, and inclusive growth.
Documents from Barangay Wack Wack showed developer Shang Properties Inc. applied for clearance in June 2025, targeting a November groundbreaking and 2035 completion. The firm still lacks several permits, including approvals from the village association, La Salle Greenhills, the DENR, DPWH, and MMDA.
Homeowner Hubert Chua said SPI presented plans and renderings to some residents and city officials on June 25. “It seemed as if it was really going to push through,” he said, noting there have been no updates since.
The Greenhills East Village Association earlier passed a resolution to enforce height limits for commercial projects and reject developments exceeding 15 persons per lot, empowering the association president to oppose non-compliant projects and study population density impacts.
