Taguig City preps public schools for ‘Brigada Eskwela’ 2025

The City of Taguig gave free cleaning supplies, paints, and extra reading materials to all 52 public schools in the city for Brigada Eskwela 2025 as part of its yearly support for public education.

The program’s official kickoff was held at the Taguig Integrated School on June 9, attended by over 700 school heads, teachers, officials, parents, and volunteers.

This year’s ‘Brigada Eskwela’—guided by the theme “Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan” and the Department of Education’s campaign “Sama-sama para sa Bayang Bumabasa”—aims to promote reading culture by distributing new books to Taguig public schools.

During the turnover, Mayor Laarni Cayetano also introduced “BinniBasa”—a character portraying a friendly girl, who loves reading and encourages her friends to read—to further strengthen the city’s literacy campaign and engage students in developing a reading habit.

“This year, our Brigada Eskwela goes beyond classroom cleanups and minor repairs. I commend the Department of Education, under Secretary Sonny Angara, for placing literacy at the heart of the program,” said Cayetano.

“As our contribution to this national agenda, the City of Taguig is turning over additional reading books to all 52 public schools to help build a nation of readers,” she added.

Campus Radio anchor Dansha Mae Dalluay from Taguig Integrated School thanked the local government for the materials provided.

“Thank you very much for your support, Mayor Lani Cayetano. Your contributions have been a great help, not only in cleaning but also in preventing diseases and improving our classroom.

Pinagsama Supreme Students Learner Government president Eon Lei Laganipa also shared her gratitude.

She emphasized the importance of these resources in fostering a love for reading among students and enhancing their overall educational experience.

“We are very thankful for the support of the LGU. This helps make the schools more prepared for our return,” Laganipa said.
