Iloilo remote villages benefit from First Lady’s ‘Lab for All’ health drive

Over 1,500 residents of New Lucena, Iloilo received free medical consultations, laboratory services, and medicines through the ‘Lab for All’ project, spearheaded by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and supported by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. on Tuesday.

The outreach program focused on delivering critical health services to underserved and remote communities, reaching barangays such as Bilidan, Bolalacao, and Jelicuon.

In just three days, nearly 1,000 patients from these far-flung areas availed of more than 3,800 medical services—many accessing professional healthcare services that would otherwise be difficult or costly to obtain.

“The most important resource of the country is its people and their health,” said Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., who attended the event and pledged full support to the initiative.

“It is only right that all our departments, offices, and local government units converge to ensure the well-being of our people,” he added.

First Lady Marcos stressed that ‘Lab for All’ fulfills the President’s promise to bring healthcare closer to every Filipino, especially those in rural and underserved areas.

“That is why he sent us here—to fulfill his promise,” she said, noting her personal connection to Iloilo, where her father was born and where she grew up enjoying traditional Ilonggo dishes.

Beyond medical consultations, the event also served as a one-stop shop for government services, featuring assistance from the Department of Health, TESDA, PCSO, and other national agencies.

With Iloilo as the final stop before the election period, ‘Lab for All’ has proven to be a lifeline for communities in need, ensuring that even the most remote barangays are not left behind in the government’s drive for accessible and inclusive healthcare.
