Barangay workers in Iloilo receive P1K hike in monthly honorariums

Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs), Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Day Care teachers, patrolmen (tanods), and other barangay volunteers in Iloilo can look forward to a more cheerful holiday season as the provincial government approved a P1,000 increase in their monthly honorariums.

Lawyer Roel Von Superio, the Iloilo Provincial Population Office Head, announced this development. He stated that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved the supplemental budget requested by Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr.

“With your dedication and hard work as volunteer population workers, I want to let you know that the Local Finance Committee has allocated a budget for this,” Superio shared during the annual BSPO Congress on November 18, 2024, held at the Iloilo Convention Center.

The honorarium increase will take effect in the first week of December. The new rates are as follows:

• BSPOs, BHWs, Day Care Teachers, and Barangay Volunteers: From P4,000 to P5,000 per month.

• Barangay Tanods: From P2,000 to P3,000 per month.

This adjustment demonstrates the provincial government’s commitment to recognizing the invaluable contributions of barangay workers and volunteers in ensuring the well-being of their communities.

The announcement was made during the BSPO Congress, which gathered 2,393 BSPOs from 43 Local Government Units across the province.

Themed “BSPO sa Bagong Pilipinas: Mapisan, Tampad, Mabakod” (BSPO in the New Philippines: Diligent, Honest, Resilient), the event celebrated the critical role of barangay workers in advancing public service.

The honorarium increase aims to uplift the morale of barangay workers and volunteers, providing them with greater financial support as they continue to deliver essential services to their communities.
