THE Loakan Airport in Baguio City is undergoing improvements, including expansion of its terminal building to accommodate more passengers.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, (CAAP) said the passenger terminal building was being expanded from 650 to 859 square meters, increasing its capacity from 85 to 141 passengers at any given time.

Additional check-in counters will also be provided, and the flow of passenger traffic in and out of the terminal building will be improved.

CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said lactating and prayer rooms will also be set up, and solar panels will be installed to ensure sustainable operations at the terminal.

Over the weekend, officials from the CAAP and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) inspected the ongoing development project to assess progress. The government reopened Loakan for commercial flights in December 2022 to promote tourism and boost the economy in Baguio. Philippine Airlines launched its Cebu-Baguio flights on Dec. 16, 2022.
