Talusan assumes post at Subic Bay Customs

THE Bureau of Customs in Subic Bay, Olongapo City has welcomed Carmelita Talusan as its new district collector responsible for overseeing and managing the port’s operations. 

“With her extensive background in Customs and trade, Collector Talusan brings experience and expertise to this critical role. Having served in various capacities within the bureau and successfully managed numerous projects, she is well-prepared to navigate the challenges and intricacies of operations at the Port of Subic,” port officials said in a statement. 

Talusan holds a Mass Communications degree from Maryknoll College and a master’s in Business Administration. She also holds a Career Executive Service officer (CESO) V rank and has completed a Finance Course at the Ateneo graduate school of business.

Port of Subic plays a crucial role in facilitating international trade, ensuring Customs compliance, and fostering economic growth in the region. 

As head of the Subic port, Talusan will pursue Customs Commissioner Bien Rubio’s five-point priority program, which includes digitalization of customs processes, achieving and surpassing collection targets, simplifying procedures and facilitating secure trade; curbing smuggling and uplifting employee welfare and development.

“I am honored and humbled to once again assume the role of Collector of the Port of Subic. I expect your support and look forward to working with all of you in upholding the bureau’s mission of facilitating trade and collecting rightful revenue. Together, let us work diligently in serving our country and supporting the reforms of Commissioner Rubio,” Talusan said.
