The Navotas City government started Wednesday the distribution of 5-kilo packs of rice and one whole chicken to each family in Navotas in line with the city’s celebration of its 116th founding anniversary.
Mayor Toby Tiangco, Congressman John Rey Tiangco and other city and barangay officials led the first day of distribution during the “116th Navotas Day Regalo Para sa Pamilyang Navoteño.”
Some 14,157 families from barangays Tangos North and South were the first to receive the said food packs.
The city government purchased 80,317 packs of rice and chicken for the whole of Navotas in December.
“The distribution was scheduled on January 14-16 as part of the week-long activities for Navotas Day. We deferred it to focus on the house-to-house delivery of medicines and vitamins,” Tiangco said.
The city government handed out paracetamol, phenylpropanolamine, and
vitamin C to 87,315 Navoteño families.
“We thank Navoteños for patiently waiting for us to bring our Navotas Day gifts to them. We also thank everyone who helped make this activity a success—from the purchase of the items to the receipt from
suppliers to the delivery to each Navoteño family,” Tiangco said.
“We will strive to complete the distribution within one week so stay home, if you have nothing important to do outside, and wait for us to visit your area,” he added.
