World-class sports dorm for Benilde

 

The Benilde Sports and Dorm Building, now considered as the new Home of the Blazers,recently opened its doors to athletes and academic scholars of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB).

The five-storycomplex, standing on the 4,196.8 square-meter lot in San Isidro Drivecorner Dominga Street with the Taft and SDA Campuses as neighbors,was designed by Architect Leandro A. Poco of L.A. Poco Architects and Associates. It was constructed by DM Consunji Inc, who both considered the tropical country’s climate to ensure proper ventilation and natural lighting.

The second to fifth floors house 64 rooms dedicatedas living quarters for147 athletes, 48 artists and 19 academic scholars. The Sports Area features a25 m x 16.44 m swimming pool and two sets of basketball courts, dug-out rooms, and shower rooms for the teams.

The amenities likewise include a fitness gym for weight and endurance drills, physical therapy clinics, and several athletic facilities for the various teams such as a studio for the pep squad and training rooms for taekwondo, and other martial arts.“In putting up the Sports and Dorm Building, we are sending the message that we commit to nurture our athletes, artists, and scholars to reach their best potential,” declared De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde President Br. Dodo Fernandez, FSC.
