Honda launches new City Hatchback

Honda Cars Philippines Inc. launched Tuesday the new Honda City Hatchback as it aims to maintain its young and savvy target demographics following the discontinuation of the Honda Jazz in the Philippines.

Honda president Masahiko Nakamura said the company was relying on the popularity of the Honda City to keep its set of younger clients including young professionals and sporty car enthusiasts.

“While there are differences in the design and model of the City and Jazz, we continue our information sharing and for the efficiency of developments, we are communicating our feedbacks and concerns. These are challenging times for the automotive industry. We hope to get back (on track) and recovery. We need to expand our presence,” he said.

He said the pandemic and the safeguard measures made it difficult for the company and the whole industry to make any forecast in sales. Nakamura said despite the declining B segment in the local market, the company was still optimistic that the Philippines would continue to be an attractive market for the City Hatchback.
