Community-private sector team up in Quezon

Atimonan One Energy, Inc. (A1E) recently helped set up a three-day workshop (Shown in photo) to help local officials of Brgy. Villa Ibaba in Atimonan, Quezon come up with a barangay development plan. The plan gives local officials a roadmap on how to maximize the benefits that  residents  will get from a 1,200-megawatt (MW) high efficency, low emission (HELE) coal-fired  power plant that A1E will be building in the area. The barangay is entitled to benefits under the Energy Regulations (ER) No. 1-94 as host of project. Among these is a one-centavo per kilowatt-hour share of electricity sales which can be used for the electrification of communities that have no access to electricity, environment enhancement, livelihood, reforestation and watershed management, and health-related projects. More than PHP80 million is expected to be remitted to the host communities—from the region up to the resettlement area—each year. Barangay Villa Ibaba is expected to get an allocation of about P17 million. Shown here is Brgy. Villa Ibaba councilor Rogelio Zatarain asking Quezon 4th district board member Isaias Ubana II,  about budget allocation processes for different programs, during the workshop.
