Cathay Land backs ‘Balik Probinsya’

Cathay Land recently threw its weight behind the “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa” (“Back to the Province, New Hope”) of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Cathay Land President Jeffrey Ng told the Manila Standard that his company backs Executive Order 114’s initiative to spread national growth to the provinces near Metro Manila, and eventually, across the entire countryside.

“As an economist and President of the University of the Philippines School of Economics Alumni Association (UPSEAA), I strongly believe that this initiative will hopefully make growth between Metro Manila and the provinces more equitable,” said Ng. “But more importantly, this has the potential to boost family incomes across the country and improve our fellow Filipinos’ quality of life.”

Cathay Land’s two ongoing township projects located immediately south of Metro Manila, in Cavite, will be positioned to attract even more industrial, commercial and residential locators to aid such growth, he averred.

South Forbes golf city

Ng was referring to the 250-hectare South Forbes golf city in the Metro Sta. Rosa-Silang-Tagaytay City growth area. This township currently has seven themed residential subdivisions, a commercial center called Westborough Town Centre, and the 18-hole South Forbes Golf Club.

Once operational, SFCP will eventually create thousands of jobs in support of the BP2 program.

Mallorca city

Cathay Land’s other township project, Mallorca city, hosts Cavite Light Industrial Park (CLIP) and Mallorca Villas for the residential component.

CLIP recently launched Phase 2 Tranche 4, with 15 industrial lots on offer for light industry operations. The park currently hosts vehicle assembly, logistics, glass, laboratory and similar operations.

Better quality of life

“Since both South Forbes golf city and Mallorca city are township projects, aspiring entrepreneurs can invest in either project and experience a better quality of life, especially if they choose to reside in their chosen city,” Ng pointed out.
