MANILA Jockey Club, Inc. (MJC), the 150 year-old horse racing club, is currently deep into property development projects in Manila, Cavite and Occidental Mindoro.

MJC moved its horse racing operations from Manila to a sprawling 77-hectare property in Carmona, Cavite in 2003. The San Lazaro Leisure and Business Park (SLLBP) is a PEZA-registered, multipurpose complex which features two (2) all-weather race tracks designed by Japan Racing Facilities Ltd.; a 1,600 horse stable complex; and a four-storey steel and glass Turf Building, which houses the Jockey Club Casino, Chantilly Bar & Bistro restaurant, banquet rooms, grandstand and viewing boxes.

Also within the complex is Canyon Ranch, a 17-hectare residential project developed through a joint venture with Century Properties, Inc.

Together with the Philippine Football Federation (PFF), MJC built a world-class football field at SLLBP in 2014. The project was recently awarded a FIFA 2-star field rating, the highest grade awarded by the international body.

The pitch is used by local football organizations including the Youth Football League (YFL), PFF Women’s League and the UAAP for their tournaments and practices.

NEXT DIVING DESTINATION. The APO Reef World Resorts in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.

Apart from the FIFA pitch, related structures including locker rooms, dormitories and other training facilities are being built  to make the site as the National Football Center, the official training center of the national football teams.

Future developments

Future developments include the relocation of the PFF National Headquarters, also known as the PFF House of Football, a four-storey structure housing its corporate offices, educational centers and dormitories for members attending football training camps; residential condominiums; BPO and office buildings; commercial and retail centers; a multi-purpose sports stadium; an international cockpit arena for Manila Cockers; and an integrated resort-hotel complex with leisure, gaming and parking facilities.

Further down south is APO Reef World Resorts, Inc., an MJC subsidiary, located in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro. The company has over 74 hectares of beach property with an objective of developing a total area of 100 hectares into an international ecotourism hub. It has four-kilometers of beach shoreline, including a 1,200-meter inlet river ideal for various water sports and activities.

The property is located only a few minutes away from the world-renowned Apo Reef Natural Park, a marine sanctuary known as the 2nd largest contiguous coral reef in the world. It is easily accessible through various modes of transportation via land, sea and air travel.

The former location of the San Lazaro Hippodromo in Sta. Cruz, Manila has likewise been revitalized into a residential and commercial complex known as the San Lazaro Tourism and Business Park (SLTBP).

It is a PEZA economic zone developed in partnership with the SM Group; Ayala Land, Inc. including its subsidiaries Alveo and Avida Land Corporation.

Apart from the SM San Lazaro, the site features a BPO facility, Vertex One; Celadon Park, consisting of three (3) luxury condominium towers; Avida Towers, which consists of five (5) residential towers; and Celadon Residences, a townhouse development.

In 2016, the Winford Hotel and Casino was completed and began its initial operations. The hotel features five-star accommodations, casino, banquet and dining offerings.

The remaining property of 1.67-hectares will be jointly developed with Megaworld Corporation. This venture will give rise to King’s Plaza, a mixed-use complex composed of a five-level commercial podium and three residential towers.
