Makati Mayor Abby Binay (third from left) hands a teacher’s kit to one of some 3,100 public school teachers feted by the city government on Friday, World Teachers’ Day, at the Makati Coliseum. Each bag contained a Bluetooth speaker, wireless presenter, tumbler, Teacher’s Plan and Students Data Record, First Aid kit, Makatizens pouch with school supplies, notepad, 64GB flash drive, voice amplifier, laptop bag, and a Makatizen jacket. Binay was joined by Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo, Rep. Luis Campos, DepEd Makati Superintendent Rita Riddle, and city councilors. Earlier, the mayor in an executive order suspended classes in all public schools in the city on Oct. 4 to give way to the day-long tribute to the educators. They were treated to a caravan of services ranging from free massage and spa to medical checkups, free medicines and eyeglasses, among others.
