Townsfolk of MacArthur, Leyte form a phalanx of human barricade to block the entry of a monstrous dredging machine to be used for black sand mining operations in the town’s farmlands. Jesus Cabias Jr., spokesman for the group of peasant farmers, says they have been on guard 24/7, rain or shine, along the main highways to demonstrate their unbending stance in protecting their communities against environmental destruction.
