Mayor Along leads opening of Regional Science and Technology Week in NCR

Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan led the opening of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Regional Science and Technology Week in the National Capital Region held at University of Caloocan City (UCC) Congressional Campus this Thursday, December 1.

According to DOST, the said event features innovations on job creation, wealth protection as well as sustainable alternatives for future generations.

In a short speech Mayor Along welcomed the guests, students, and exhibitors and likewise expressed support and appreciation to the projects of DOST and its partner agencies.

“Science and technology is the key towards innovation and societal development. Malaking bahagi po ito ng ating pang araw-araw na buhay at mas mabilis at epektibong mga proseso at resulta,” he said.

“Kami po sa pamahalaang lungsod ay nagpapasalamat sa DOST at sa iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaang nasyonal sa pagtulong sa amin sa pagsisikap na imulat ang mga Batang Kankaloo sa larangan ng agham at teknolohiya,” the Mayor added.

During the said event, DOST awarded the city government one of its projects, “STARBOOKS,”  a kiosk containing thousands of digitized science and technology resources in various formats that aims to help the students and faculty in their research endeavors.

Present also during the said launching were Caloocan City District 1 Representative Oscar Malapitan, DOST Regional Operations Usec. Sancho Mabborang, DOST-NCR Officer-in-charge Engr. Romelen Tresvalles and DOST-NCR CAMANAVA CASTO Director Warren Gomez.
