The Matcha Tokyo ventures south once again with the grand opening of its largest and newest flagship store at the SM Mall of Asia on July 2, 2025. Blending minimalist Japanese aesthetics with the natural serenity of Manila Bay, this store promises a sensory escape unlike any other.
The design of The Matcha Tokyo’s flagship store at SM Mall of Asia is a seamless blend of nature, architecture, and tradition — anchored by a thoughtfully crafted “karesansui” or zen rock garden at its center.

Inspired by the gentle curves of Manila Bay, the store features free-flowing lines along its walls and counters, mimicking the movement of waves. The main counter is curved in a bay form, centering the traditional tea ceremony as the focal point of the space. A central green zone filled with tall trees and lounge seating, illuminated by a man-made skylight, evokes the image of sunlight filtering through a forest — creating a serene atmosphere that invites guests to pause and relax. This flagship store harmonizes structure and symbolism, blending one’s café visit with a meditative, immersive experience.
This new flagship not only elevates the visual experience, but also introduces branch-exclusive menu items.
For the first time ever in the Philippines, The Matcha Tokyo is serving up savory Panini (pressed sandwiches), available in six distinct flavors and a secret seventh — just ask your barista.

Sweet lovers aren’t left out with Yogurt Bowls in Blueberry Mango and Strawberry Banana flavors, along with unique desserts like the Ensaymatcha, Mont Blanc Toast, and Steamed Bread with Butter in flavors like sweet potato, matcha, and shoyu.
The 60-seater flagship store also debuts interactive Matcha and Hojicha Experiences, where guests can whisk their own tea and pour their lattes, each paired with a dessert sampler featuring cookie butter Basque cheesecake, matcha madeleine, warabi mochi, and a butter cookie.
(The Matcha Tokyo is located at the 3rd Floor, Main Mall, SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.)
