In a related development, PWWA, alongside representatives from the Philippine Association of Water Districts (PAWD), recently met with Senior Deputy Speaker Hon. Aurelio “Dong” D. Gonzales Jr., a prominent member of the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC). The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss national water security issues, including flood control, irrigation, and the establishment of the proposed Department of Water Resources.
During the discussion, Senior Deputy Speaker Gonzales emphasized the importance of a unified approach to water management and suggested that the proposed department oversee flood control efforts, with the National Irrigation Authority (NIA) serving as a coordinating body. This approach aims to comprehensively address the country’s water challenges.
