AirAsia Philippines said Friday it posted a strong rebound in travel demand in the first quarter compared to the fourth quarter amid the global pandemic.

The Philippine unit of Southeast Asia’s largest airline said it carried 168,527 passengers in the first three months, a 43-percent increase from the fourth quarter last year.

The higher number of passengers it carried resulted in an increase in load factor of 10 percentage points quarter-on-quarter to 74 percent.

A month-on-month breakdown showed that AirAsia Philippines grew its number of passengers by 57 percent, despite increasing 30 percent in operating capacity in March compared to February. This resulted in a commendable 81 percent load factor in March.
