GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp., the operator of Mactan Cebu International Airport, said Friday all domestic departures and arrivals will return to Terminal 1 effective Oct. 15 on growing local travel demand.
“MCIA continues to experience increased domestic traffic with domestic demand now at 67 percent of pre-pandemic levels,” GMR-Megawide said. Daily average at MCIA tipped at 35,000 passengers for domestic and international in 2019.
The Terminal 2 will be dedicated for all departures and arrivals. “International traffic continues to take increased traffic from Korea, Japan and Taiwan. In the next months, MCIA is also expecting resumption of flights from Hong Kong and China,” GMR-Megawide said.
The airport operator had to consolidate its domestic and international operations in one terminal due to pandemic. “With the growing demand for domestic and return of som of our international flights, we really have to operate the two terminals already,” said Edilyth Maribojoc, head corporate affairs and communications for GMR-Megawide.
