The country’s air passenger traffic is slowing returning to pre-pandemic level on easing of domestic and international travel restrictions.
Data from the Civil Aeronautics Board showed that air passenger volume reached 13.17 million from January to June, up from 2.95 million passengers in 2021. Domestic traffic reached only 5.53 million passengers last year.
Domestic passenger volume reached 9.69 million in in the first six months this year, higher than 2 million passengers recorded in the same period in 2021.
Cebu Pacific remained the country’s leading domestic carrier with 5.15 million passengers in the six-month period, followed by PAL Express with 1.58 million passengers and Philippine AirAsia with 1.38 million passengers. Darwin G. Amojelar
