Airlines announce promotional fares to lure passengers

Local airlines on Friday introduced promotional fares to entice more passengers to travel.

Philippine Airlines said it is offering domestic base fares for as low as P188 and international base fares for as low as $89 roundtrip.

“We are happy to invite fellow Filipinos and all global citizens to celebrate the freedom to fly by availing of our Independence Day seat sale,” said PAL vice president for sales Bud Britanico.

“With markets reopening and economies recovering, we hope you will hop on a Philippine Airlines flight and rediscover the wonders of air travel to the great destinations throughout our Philippine and global network,” he said.

PAL said travelers may book until June 12, 2022 to enjoy the freedom to fly to their choice destinations. It sid that for flights within the Philippines and Asia, Guam and Australia, the travel period is from Aug. 1, 2022 to March 16, 2023.

The airline said that for flights to North America and the Middle East, travel period is from Sept. 1, 2022 and onwards.

Cebu Pacific said it is offering airfare for as low as P12, one-way base fare from June 10 to 12, with travel period from Feb. 1 to May 31, 2023.

“We remain committed to keep enabling every Juan to move forward together from the challenges of the recent years, and remain hopeful that skies will continue to clear, so they can rekindle their love for travel and enjoy the freedom that this experience brings,” said Cebu Pacific vice president for marketing and customer experience Candice Iyog.

Air Asia Philippines also rolled out P66 one-way base fare for Cebu Zamboanga, Davao, Kalibo, Cagayan de Oro, Puerto Princesa, Tagbilaran and Dumaguete.

It said international travelers may get a 10-percent discount on any international destination.

“We can all be part of our tourism’s recovery by supporting local—helping our fellow Filipinos, who are dependent on tourism, to be free themselves from the challenges posed by the pandemic,” AIrAsia Philippines spokesperson Steve Dailisan said.
