The Public Works Department said it completed three infrastructure projects in northern part of Luzon to ease traffic going to Baguio City.

The agency said in a statement the Aringay-Tubao Alternate Road and Anduyan Bridge, a new route to Baguio City, would lessen traffic congestion along Agoo-Baguio City Road or Marcos Highway and Bauang-Baguio Road or Naguilian Road.

The opening of these projects will provide a better and faster road network for motorists going to Benguet and Baguio City.

“This alternate route will lessen travel time from Tuba, La Union to Benguet from 2 hours to 35 minutes and will cut travel time from 2 hours and 25 minutes to just 1 hour going to Baguio City,” Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said. The projects cost P493.9 million.

The travel time of 2 hours and 25 minutes from Tubao, La Union to Baguio City will be cut to just one hour.

The new bridge with sidewalks on each side and reinforced concrete railings virtually abandoned the use of bamboo raft for the people of Barangay Rizal and Alog East in Tubao, La Union to cross Aringay River.
