The Philippine unit of Southeast Asia’s largest budget airline said it will launch flights to Osaka, Japan from Manila in the second half of the year.

Captain Dexter Comendador, AirAsia Philippines chief executive, said the airline had entitlements of 14 flights per week between Osaka and Manila.  “We are planning to use it in the second semester of the year,” he said.

AirAsia also plans to add international flights from Clark International Airport to Korea, Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore this year.

AirAsia launched commercial flights at Clark in 2012 before transferring its hub to Manila following a strategic partnership with ZestAir  in 2013.   Philippines Air Asia resumed flights from Clark with three weekly flights to Kalibo (Boracay) in March.
