The Department of Energy is preparing a circular that will declare the commercial operation of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market in the Mindanao grid by December.
A draft circular from the DOE which is subject to public consultations showed that the pending registration concerns would no longer impede the WESM Mindanao commercial operation.
The latest WESM Mindanao registration update from the market operator dated Oct. 24 showed that 39 of the expected 96 participants in Mindanao completed registration in the WESM.
Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative has yet to commence its registration in the WESM while Maguindanao Electric Cooperative has yet to provide a counter-party confirmation.
The DOE directed the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (and the National Electrification Administration to provide necessary assistance in ensuring the registration of the ailing electric coops, specifically Lasureco and Magelco.
