The National Electrification Administration asked the electric cooperatives to speed up their committed sitio electrification projects.
“Based on the status of project implementation reported by the ECs, there’s still a minimal number of projects under construction up to this time and a majority of which are still unreleased, under bidding and not yet awarded, despite our go signal to proceed with the bidding process issued earlier,” NEA administrator Emmanuel Juaneza said in a memorandum.
NEA advised the ECs to implement strategies to ensure the completion/energization of the committed SEP projects until Dec. 31.
These strategies include assignment of a project manager to monitor project implementation and/or contractor’s performance closely, utilization of stock materials while awaiting delivery of bidded materials, requiring contractors to increase their crease, create a taskforce for the projects, prioritize SEP implementation, coordinate with local government units and fast-track the liquidation of previous subsidy funded projects.
