State-run National Transmission Corp. signed a memorandum of agreement with Occidental Mindoro Electric Cooperative Inc. to help address the power supply situation in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

TransCo president and chief executive Jainal Abidin Bahjin II and OMECO president Eleanor Costibolo led the ceremonial signing of the partnership to solve the lingering power issues in the province.

The agreement is a big leap in the local and national economic development of the island, as it aims to improve power supply, power delivery and effective system operations in the areas under the coverage of OMECO.

TransCo will perform the functions of small grid system operator for the optimal dispatching of power plants and generating units to achieve least-cost generation of electricity for the consumers and minimize the subsidy requirements for universal charge for missionary electrification.

It will also operate and control the Mindoro Grid system frequency, voltage and power flows. Alena Mae S. Flores
