State-run Philippine National Oil Co (PNOC) sold its remaining uncontracted banked gas to South Premiere Power Corp., a unit of San Miguel Corp.

PNOC said the banked gas will supply fuel to the 1,200-megawatts Ilijan power plant in Batangas until the total contract quantity is delivered on or before February 23, 2024.

“However, delivery has not commenced, as the SC38 Consortium and its operator, Shell Philippines Exploration B.V. (SPEX), have yet to heed the series of directives by the Department of Energy (DOE), requiring them to immediately resume the supply and maintain the allocation of natural gas minimum daily contract quantity of banked gas to the Ilijan power plant pursuant to the GSPA,” said PNOC.

Spex, which owns a 45-percent interest in the Malampaya consortium, has not issued a statement on why it did not respond on the directives of the DOE.
