Pi Energy Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of First Philippine Holdings Corp., reached a cooperation agreement with uHoo, a climate technology company, to integrate energy and anti-indoor pollution services.

Pi Energy and uHoo under the agreement will develop unified and unique solutions that will include indoor air quality monitoring products and services from uHoo, aside from low-carbon technologies and energy conservation and efficiency products from Pi Energy.

“The addition of a distinguished air quality monitoring system within our ecosystem of solutions further enhances our capability of transforming our client’s operations not only through proper use of electricity but also through maintaining a conducive environment that is safe for employees,” said Pi Energy vice president Ariel Villasenor.

Pi Energy is engaged in generating and supplying energy from renewable resources and constructing and installing related facilities for customers. It is a sister company of First Gen Corp., the country’s clean energy leader.

Meanwhile, uHoo is a global environmental health platform founded by Filipino Dustin Jefferson Onghanseng in Singapore. It delivers intelligent anti-indoor pollution innovations used by government bodies, homes and private organizations in more than 40 countries.

Its services include the uHoo virus index, which provides insights to lower the risk of survival and spread of the coronavirus in a workplace.

“Our new partnership with Pi Energy focuses not only in reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption but also on enhancing people’s health and well-being inside homes and businesses,” said Onghanseng, who is also chief executive of uHoo.

“Through the combination of uHoo and Pi Energy’s technology, we can monitor and take control, in real-time, of at least 13 different factors that affect indoor environmental quality while simultaneously optimizing energy use in the built environment,” Onghanseng said.

The indoor items or factors that uHoo products can monitor include temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, air pressure, harmful particulate matter of various sizes such as PM1, PM2.5, PM4 and PM10 and multiple types of airborne chemicals such as volatile organic compounds, carbon monoxide and formaldehyde and light and noise. “The unique benefits offered by our combined solutions are guaranteed to deliver an excellent and unmatched proposition on enhancing health and well-being, reducing energy consumption and advancing data-driven sustainability and ESG [environmental, social, and governance] tracking and reporting across buildings, schools, hospitals, and various establishments,” Onghanseng said.

Villasenor said achieving a decarbonized and regenerative future could not be done in isolation but through the joint efforts of organizations at the forefront of the battle against climate change.

“Together, we will embark on a collaborative journey of delivering unified solutions that address various needs of businesses,” Villasenor said.
