KargaX is launching one of the country’s first nationwide trucking web and mobile platforms this week.
Kristofer Montebon, KargaX president, said the platform is designed to connect shippers to multiple carrier options and vice versa. This gives the shippers the most cost-effective solution and the truckers a more optimized trip.
“We’ve seen use-cases where truckers traverse the Philippines with cargo on the forward and backload and shippers saving 10-30 percent of the shipment costs by finding the right truckers,” Montebon said.
Montebon’s 12-year experience in technology and startups from Ninja Van, Lalamove, Transportify and others is focused on the logistics industry as he believes “everything from food, fuel to construction materials hinges on an efficient supply chain.”
A study by the ASEAN German Technical Cooperation in 2018 showed 56 percent of delivery trucks from Manila to the provinces return under-optimized or empty. About 35 percent of those outbound of Metro Manila returning to their base in the provinces are also under-optimized. Montebon said innovations like the KargaX platform can solve one of the most persistent problem of “empty miles” in the industry.
