GNPower plant gets priority status

The Energy Department issued a certificate of energy project of national significance to GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. for the commercial phase of its 1,336-megawatt supercritical coal-fired power plant in Mariveles, Bataan.

The department, as chair of the Energy Investment Coordinating Council, issued the CEPNS declaration to help GNPower fast-track the construction and completion of the project.  The first unit of the project is due for completion this year.

Established by virtue of Executive Order No. 30, the EICC was created to streamline the regulatory procedures of energy projects as a part of the Ease of Doing Business Program of the Duterte administration.

GNPower Dinginin is a joint venture of AC Energy Inc. of the Ayala Group and Aboitiz Power Corp. subsidiary Therma Power Inc. and Power Partners Ltd. Co.  Construction of the first 668-MW unit is in full swing and is scheduled for completion by 2019.
