Converge ICT Solutions Inc. said it has the most consistent fixed internet performance in five regions in the country, based on Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data for the first quarter.

The Ookla analysis shows that the average download speed of Converge is at 42.93 megabits per second in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Ilocos and the Cordillera Administrative Region, representing the actual plans subscribed to by its subscribers.

“Our network performance in the first quarter reflects our focus in providing reliable high-speed internet services to our customers in their standard packages, which subscribers of other providers only enjoy on a promotional basis via their speed boosts,” said Converge ICT chief executive Dennis Anthony Uy.

Converge ICT garnered a consistency score of 72.78 percent in the Ookla analysis. Consistency score measures what percentage of a provider’s samples equals or exceeds both a download and upload fixed threshold of 25 mbps download and 3 mbps upload.

Meanwhile, Globe Telecom said its 4G coverage, speed and video experience were consistently improving amid the aggressive cell site builds.

Based on the April 2021 report of international analyst firm, Opensignal, Globe’s 4G availability scored 82.6 percent, up 2.2 percentage points, causing Smart’s lead to drop by nearly 30 percent from 5 percentage points to 3.6 percentage points.

Globe’s video experience score also advanced by an impressive 15.4 points, reducing Smart’s lead by more than half compared to the last report. The report noted the company’s download speed experience improvement of 16.4 percent from 7.4 mbps to 8.6 mbps.

“Our continuously improving performance in mobile and data services shows our strong commitment to deliver on our promise of a first-world network. The steady improvements significantly reduced the gaps in speed such that, from a user standpoint it is hardly noticeable,” said Globe president and chief executive Ernest Cu.

“More than speed, customers want consistent, reliable connectivity that comes with an enriching digital experience,” he said.
