Globe Telecom Inc. said Thursday 80 percent of Metro Manila is now 5G-ready after the company modernized its network.

The telecom unit of Ayala Corp. said it upgraded 884 locations in Metro Manila into 5G-ready sites to make the service available to customers. Globe said it would continue to install more 5G-ready sites all over the country.

“We continue to invest on our network so our customers get to experience the many promises and opportunities of the most advanced technologies like 5G,” Globe president and chief executive Ernest Cu said.

“With our aggressive roll outs, our network is getting closer to making the whole of Metro Manila 5G ready. Ultimately, our goal is to make the 5G experience as pervasive as possible,” he said.

Bonifacio Global City, Makati and Ortigas commercial business districts have coverage of 97 percent, 95 percent and 97 percent, respectively, the company said.
