Globe Telecom Inc. said it will accelerate the building of cell sites nationwide this year after President Duterte signed into law the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act.
“Over the weekend the Bayanihan 2 Act was signed and that gave us again another boost and that gave us the temporary suspension of requirements and streamlining of process with regard to permits,” Globe president and chief executive Ernest Cu said in a virtual launching of the company’s National G Day Celebration on Sept. 17.
“As you know permits were really the difficulties that sometimes really blocked how we can implement both cell sites and fiber optic cable to feed the data needs of different homes and businesses that we would like to serve,” he said.
Cu said the public could expect more network activities from Globe until the end of the year to bring world-class internet to the Philippines.
“We are working as hard as possible to deploy much capacity as possible both of the wireless and wireline front,” he said.
