DITO Telecommunity Corp. said Monday said it expects to earn more than P2 billion in revenues this year on the back of higher subscriber base.
“As of Dec. 18, we reached P2 billion in revenue, and so will end this fiscal year 2021 with over P2 billion in revenues,” DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamayo said in a virtual briefing.
“For next year, our ambition is much bigger,” he said.
DITO said its subscribers reached more than 5 million in December, after launching its service in March.
Rodolfo Santiago, DITO chief technology officer, said the company was on track to meeting its third-year commitment of 70-percent population coverage.
“We are targeting a total of more than 850 cities and municipalities by end of 2022,” Santiago said.
“We have more than 4,000 towers at present, more than what we need to achieve our yearend target,” he said.
Santiago said the company had 2,200 kilometers of fiber optic, “at par” with other telco providers in terms of “fiberization” of network.
DITO recently passed its second technical audit with a national population coverage of 52.75 percent and a minimum average broadband speeds of 89.13 megabits per second and 853.96 Mbps for all 4G and 5G sites, respectively.
DITO said that as part of the issuance of its certificate of public convenience and necessity in July 2019, it committed to deliver a national population coverage of 51.01 percent and minimum average broadband speed of 55 Mbps in the second year of its commitment period.
The third technical audit is set in July 2022.
