Qatar Fund eyeing infra projects in PH

Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III said the Qatar Fund for Development expressed interest in exploring opportunities for development cooperation with the Philippines in the areas of infrastructure and human capital development.

Dominguez said in a statement Friday QFFD’s commitment to provide assistance to sectors in the country that are most in need bodes well for the government’s efforts to assist the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in implementing long-term development projects.

In a meeting with a visiting delegation from QFFD recently, Dominguez said areas that would benefit immensely from Qatar’s support included the government’s capacity-building efforts for BARMM, peace building, the normalization of the peace process, Islamic banking, education, fisheries development, rural infrastructure development, health care, disaster risk reduction and management and the energy sector.
